Welcome…

Welcome to ctrlaltdeletelondon, aka London, Life Rules and Tales from Afar!

Life and travelling are easy; London is not. It’s a great big city out there, is London.

There are two ways to fully experience the size. The first is to try planning a date, day/night out, or even a casual coffee. The second is to try riding the entirety of the District Line at 8am on a rainy Tuesday in November.
It’s safe to say I can help with the first of these:

Whether you want a structured, fail-safe idea – CTRL
Maybe you want an alternative, niche idea – ALT
Or perhaps you want something completely new, temporary, the kind of thing you need to catch while its hot because when it’s cooled down it’ll be like eating a refrigerated fried egg – and for you, the reader, I did try this, and it is not pleasant. This is DELETE.

So please feel free to read the articles, someday there may even be a podcast or videos as I aim merely to entertain and inspire your experience of this city. All we do here is take pleasure in giving you the ideas, reviews and inspiration to go and live London; the rest is up to you.

Some examples…

CONTROL
It’s a date, but he’s not the adventurous type; It’s a business meeting, and she’s Definitely not the adventurous type; Or it’s a long lost 3rd cousin who’s popped up out of nowhere on a Sunday evening when you were just about to have a bath, but requires entertaining – and your adventurous nature has gone down the plughole like that hot water you had already started running…

ALT
She has half of her hair shaved and when you met her she was doing a vigorous tango with her gay best friend Paolo, which probably means a standard restaurant-bar combo won’t cut it; He’s new in town, looking for friends while he tries to find his feet as a freerunner; Or it’s that same long lost 3rd cousin who has popped up out of nowhere, but this time has the grace to appear on a Thursday when you’ve already had a couple of drinks and the city is your Oyster…

DELETE
It’s only in town for the summer, you say?
They’re going to run out of their best dish by the end of the week, you say?
SCARLETT JOHANSSON IS WALKING AROUND LEICESTER SQUARE IN A BIKINI, YOU SAY?!

Peruse it on the tube, talk about it on the bus, and get down there ASAP!

Note: Unfortunately, I can’t help with the second way to experience London’s vast metropolis; I hate the District line, you’d be more likely to find me riding the unrivalled orgy of speed and efficiency that is the Victoria.

  • Hi Joey,

I’d like to chat to you about our platform for walking tours. You sound like the kind of person we’d like to talk to, so please get in touch. You can check out what we do at our website.

    Thanks,
    Lauren

  • Hi Joey! I am one of VoiceMap’s newest tour guides. They just published my tour, ‘Such Friends’: Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Group.
I’m planning to come down from Birmingham to your group walk tomorrow, Sunday, 2nd August, so I can see how it’s done. We’re talking to the Morton Hotel in Bloomsbury about maybe offering it as part of their Bloomsbury package.
    Look forward to meeting you!
